“Together since 1957” does not only refer to the 50th anniversary of the European Union. In terms of development it means together for a better world throughout 50 years of cooperation. The European Union leads the way in development cooperation partners in Africa. In October 2005, the European Commission approved a new “Strategy for Africa”, with a firm commitment to do “more, better and faster”.
